Constipation and Diarrhea

Constipation and diarrhea goes hand in hand with each other.

Even though constipation and diarrhea are generally temporary ailments, they can cause stomach pain and discomfort, an urgent need to move your bowels, abnormally frequent bowel movements, or loose/watery stool.

There are drugs that can cause these conditions. For instance, Phentermine is a weight loss drug that is used in combination with diet and exercise to reduce the appetite and assist in weight loss.

Common side effects of this medication include dry mouth, unpleasant taste, diarrhea and constipation. These side effects may be lessened by taking Phentermine with food.

Constipation and diarrhea can also be caused by food intolerance and infection. This happens when elderly people eat a large amount of beans and fruits.

Constipation and diarrhea often alternate, and abdominal cramping, gassiness, and bloating are other common complaints.

Although Irritable bowel syndrome can produce lifelong symptoms, it is not a life-threatening condition.

It often worsens with stress, but there is no specific cause or anything unusual that the doctor can see in the colon.
