Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is the term for medical products and practices that are not part of standard care. Standard care is what medical doctors, doctors of osteopathy and allied health professionals, such as registered nurses and physical therapists, practice. Alternative medicine means treatments that you use instead of standard ones. Complementary medicine means nonstandard treatments that you use along with standard ones.

Higher Testosterone Tied to Heart Trouble in Older Men
The finding, from a new U.S. National Institutes of Health-funded study, concerns men over the age of 65 and is based on a tracking of hormone levels and heart disease among nearly 700 community-dwelling men.
Study author Dr. Kristen Sueoka, a resident physician at the University of California, San Francisco, is scheduled to present the finding Sunday at the Endocrine Society's Annual Meeting and Expo, held in San Diego.
"The study finding contradicts smaller studies that have shown that testosterone levels are not associated with higher rates of cardiovascular disease," Sueoka said in a news release from the Endocrine Society. Read more...
