Do Poorer Neighborhoods Increase Your Heart Risks?

Swedish researchers uncovered new concerns that may increase your heart attack risks exponentially: Living in low-income neighborhoods.

Based on a study of the health of more than 3,600 patients, women who lived in low-income areas were 88 percent more likely to have suffered a heart attack while men were just 52 percent more vulnerable.

Interestingly, scientists believe those elevated heart disease risks aren't explained entirely by variables such as employment, income and education, meaning their environment of their neighborhoods probably played an important role too.

This conclusion certainly makes far more sense than blaming your genes -- that have no intelligence at all -- for your health problems.

Fact is, your environment and lifestyle choices have great influence on the expression of your genes, which is why are the key to a long and satisfying life, rather than just the luck of the draw.
